Based in New Albany, Indiana, Floyd County Community Action Agency, Inc. has provided services to families for the past 47 years.
Floyd County Head Start Birth to Five is a federally-funded, comprehensive Preschool program including Educational, Health, Transportation, and Family Support Services. A State-Licensed Level 3 facility, we serve the Floyd County area and beyond. We have expanded to include expecting mothers, infants, and toddlers in addition to our services for preschoolers and their families.

Floyd County Head Start Birth to Five Programs
Bringing staff, community, and families together to promote education, wellness, and self-sufficiency.
We provide specialized services for the most at-risk populations in Floyd County and beyond. Qualifications include:
Family income below the poverty line
Families receiving public assistance
Homeless populations
Unemployed families
Foster children

Early Head Start Home Visiting Program
Designed for children 0-35 months (has not turned three years of age by August 1st of the current enrollment year), you may qualify for our home-based or center-based Early Head Start programs.
Additionally, the Early Head Start program features a Prenatal Program consisting of home visits during pregnancy to provide education and prenatal support.
Early Head Start Center-Based Program
The EHS center-based program is offered Monday through Thursday for 8 hours per day. The focus is on school readiness, wellness, and social and emotional development.


Head Start Center-Based Program
The Head Start center-based program is Monday through Thursday, 7 hours per day. This option supports the research that the more hours we teach, the more children will learn and retain.

Once received, the enrollment office will follow up with you to complete your application. If you have any questions, please call 812-948-6981 to speak with our enrollment staff. By completing our pre-application, you agree to receive text messages from our enrollment line, and DocuSign accounts to complete the enrollment process.
You will need to provide the following documentation:

Child's BIRTH CERTIFICATE (or other OFFICIAL document with the child's date of birth)

Proof of ELIGIBILITY or INCOME (SSI/Foster Letter, SNAP/TANF Info, Tax Returns, Recent check stubs, etc. )
